Raydiant, the engine back

Raydiant is the result of 2 years of intensive overhauling and rewriting of my previous Raydiosity engine. Now it's multi threaded, much more modular inside and outside, has a better GUI. Easier material, colour and geometry procedural generation. Faster. Is a pathtracer with all the weight on visual maths coding. It does everything light does, including caustics, radiosity, refraction and reflection. Also is a spectral render. The emphasis of Raydiant is on quality but achieves interactive realtime image rendering in preview mode (raytraced) and full radiosity mode (at low resolution and with noise). Below are some sample synthetic images. An art exhibit beginning 29th of September at Seville features 13 images from Raydiant and Raydiosity engines. More background about the images at [LINK http://albertoven.com/]. An online application of this engine is available for free on [LINK http://cutemosaic.com/].

since your first post here i always follow your blog and the dev of the engine, cause it is so much different from other projects.. so cool that some pics even made it into an art exhibition (which makes very much sense to me!)..  [SMILEY =D>]

Thanks man. This forum is full of people that says: I have something unique to contribute to CGI, and that's what I love more: each engine has it's own special feel, something unique you can enjoy.

I concur with Toxie : great pictures ! and it seems great tracer [SMILEY :)]

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the exhibit!

@Shadow007: I very much appreciate it!
@beason: wow thanks! please post more images from your render pane, it looks awesome

Indeed very nice Alberto!
I also wish you good luck with the exhibit.

Thanks Pablo, you feedback is very much appreciated!
I've just finished hanging 13 pictures, the posters, delivering some flyers .... Next Sunday afternoon it's the official start, we'll see how it goes...

So how did it go? Any groupies yet [SMILEY ;-)]

It's being a good experience. The feedback has been very positive!
I've been surprised that maths generated visuals can appeal to a wide audience, this is something a little counter intuitive to me but very welcome.
It appears that people that don't like maths from an abstract point of view still feel compelled to watch its visual derivatives.
I'm getting married in 12 days, so I've passed the offers on the groupie side  [SMILEY ]

I received many petitions at the art exhibit for personalized versions of one of the pictures in particular: Drawps I. Now is possible for everyone to get its customized mosaic for free using personal photos at [LINK http://cutemosaic.com/]. Please let me know if you like it!, some examples:

awesome idea!

Your input is most welcome, thanks you both!
Let me know if you miss something on the site, or find anything confusing or improvable. That would be very helpful.
Also, please please be sincere, do you find it fun?
And which particular parameter combination makes you happier? (mine is rock, detail enhancement, radial waves, ellipses and realistic)
I'm thinking about making a new wizard to select the mosaic parameters and left the current controls as an optional advanced mode, any opinions on that?
Pablo: now you can surf [LINK http://cutemosaic.com/] in Spanish also.

After some fine tuning, the mosaics produced by the Raydiant engine at [LINK http://cutemosaic.com/] are now showing for what they are: full radiosity 3D renders. Try any of this images at full resolution and see for yourself:

More improvements on the mosaics, now they are fine tuned so they look even more realistic and you have more geometric shapes to play with. If you like radiosity like I do have fun at [LINK http://cutemosaic.com/]. Here is a link to an article at my blog [LINK http://albertoven.com/2011/03/26/make-a-3d-radiosity-rendered-mosaic-and-win-an-ipod/] and here are some examples of the brand new mosaics:

Maybe drop a mail to the PhotoShop crew and tell them there is a new artistic filter in town?
