Is the server holding its ground for you? back
(L) [2006/02/22] [tbp] [Is the server holding its ground for you?] Wayback! As that server gets hammered a wee bit more these days, and since i'm not a valid sample because that server is also hosted in France, i was wondering if it was fast/responsive enough for you.
What's your take?
(L) [2006/02/22] [Phantom] [Is the server holding its ground for you?] Wayback! It was down a couple of minutes this afternoon, I got a SQL server error. But shortly after that it was back online, and it's very responsive to me, no problem at all.

(L) [2006/02/22] [Ho Ho] [Is the server holding its ground for you?] Wayback! As did Phantom, I also got a SQL error today. I think I got it some days ago too but as long as it isn't down for more than some minutes I'm fine with it.
As for the speed, it is quite fast compared to some other forums I read. Perhaps link between France and Estonia is fast enough [SMILEY Smile]

(L) [2006/02/23] [tbp] [Is the server holding its ground for you?] Wayback!Heh.
I've seen those transient sql errors before, i guess their db boxen are being hammered elsewhere.
If it's still fast for you when we have 3x the traffic, 10.6k hits yesterday, then i guess it's ok at least for Europeans. I have a 30k hit quota, but as i don't expect us to be slashdotted or dugg, that's also ok.
Thanks for the feedback.
(L) [2006/02/23] [Phantom] [Is the server holding its ground for you?] Wayback!10.6k hits? Dude. I thought we had only 15 members or so. Then again, it was a busy day yesterday. [SMILEY Smile]

(L) [2006/02/23] [tbp] [Is the server holding its ground for you?] Wayback!Apparently, even if this board is setup to not get in the way (guest posting etc), there's way more lurkers than contributors. That's not news in the grand scheme of things.
Hits are not a good measure to sample audience or anything, and i only care because of said quota. That said, the board and default style (+ silly browsers not properly caching things) trivially generate lots of hits. Also it seems some ppl are slurping the whole board at once. Why, that is the question [SMILEY Smile]
But you're right, it's crystal clear devmaster brought some brand new traffic this way.
