Misc links back
(L) [2006/02/04] [Ho Ho] [Misc links] Wayback! Here I have some links to datasets some people might not know yet:
[LINK http://radsite.lbl.gov/mgf/ MGF Parser and Examples]
Includes scenes like Conference Room, Office Space, Naval Cruiser and some other. I haven't yet found time to investigate them further but from the pictures it seems like they are the same "standard" scenes many others have been using.
[LINK http://www.ce.chalmers.se/old/BART/ BART: A Benchmark for Animated Ray Tracing ]
It's basically what the title sais: benchmark datasets for animated ray tracing.
I think noone here has animation-capable ray tracer yet but it won't hurt to know where to get benchmark data for it [SMILEY Smile]
[LINK http://www.intrace.com/download/demos/ inTrace Demos Downloads]
Probably meant for using with OpenRT commercial version but I got the powerplant scene running with non-commercial version too.
[LINK http://www.cs.unc.edu/~geom/Powerplant/#complete Power Plant Model]
The one and only. Consists of 12,748,510 triangles in 1185 .ply files in 86 directories.
[edit]
I was waiting for how long would it take until a new subforum gets created [SMILEY Smile]

(L) [2006/02/04] [tbp] [Misc links] Wayback!I've moved your post, as it's both useful & specific.
Thanks.
edit: heh, it was (and still is) our intention to provide some of kind of 'standard' scene kit for rt raytracing; we're just a tad slow [SMILEY Wink]
(L) [2006/02/04] [tbp] [Misc links] Wayback!Oh and i didn't know you could run the powerplant on that gimped OpenRT demo.
I thought it was clamped to <1M tri etc etc and didn't bother.
Not like there's a profusion of available scene to render when you, finally, get that damn thing to work.
Last thing, i was wondering if anyone had the MGF set in a more 'modern' format, cuz i don't feel like writing yet another parser.
That and the ubiquitous Soda Hall.
Wish list for today: Erw6, conference (found both in a parsable but incomplete nff format), Soda Hall.
(L) [2006/02/04] [tbp] [Misc links] Wayback!Hmm, seems that pic is 404 compliant [SMILEY Smile]
Ok, so the trick is to use the inview viewer; i got it running the other day but all i had was a cube. Yay.
Sadly, in a bold gesture of, i've removed it all (frustration?).
If you already can chew those MGF, that's really great.
Then i guess exporting them to Wavefront (obj/mtl) would be great, that is if you can preserve materials etc.. so that it fits in the usual 3D-on-PC toolchain.
(L) [2006/02/06] [Guest] [Misc links] Wayback!thx for the mgf example scenes link, I'll have to try out the conference scene in my renderer.  What's the status on mgf conversion to something else, eg .3ds?
I saw something on this somewhere else in the forums.
(L) [2006/02/06] [Guest] [Misc links] Wayback!hmm last post was by me BTW [SMILEY Smile]
(L) [2006/02/06] [Ono-Sendai] [Misc links] Wayback!Dammit this forum is retarded!!!
