Meh, that's rather weak.

That guy now has the 2.93GHz XE version that runs @ 4.4GHz with LN2. Perhaps I should ask him another favor [SMILEY Smile]

erm, [LINK http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q3/core2/index.x?pg=17]

"I suspect this CPU could go well past 3.46GHz with some bus overclocking, but I haven't tried it yet. Even at "only" 3.46GHz, performance was astounding."

how is 3.46ghz with air cooling, not touching the fsb, weaker than the 2.76ghz "real thing"? the only weak thing in that whole article is the pentium4, unless you count its space-heating capabilities...

By weak I actually meant that Conroe does not show its full potential in those ray tracing tests. That full potential is twice as fast SSE2 combined with huge L2 and massive L1/L2 bandwidth. Though I'm not sure if the latter is really needed with RT that much.

Also comparing [LINK mailto:2.13@2.7 2.13@2.7] vs [LINK mailto:2.9@3.5 2.9@3.5] is not exactly fair. I know Core2 is probably one of the best CPU's that have came out during the last 5-10 years. I also know that it absolutely rocks for RT. Nothing in x86 market can beat it until K8L.
