Beginning of my work ... back
(L) [2006/05/12] [lycium] [Beginning of my work ...] Wayback!hmm, that k-d tree building debug output and non-tracing of incoherent rays looks familiar. altough i'll have to assume it isn't foreign code since i don't see any credits or GPL-compliant code release...
btw, why only the first 10k primitives? why render via 3d api? on top of ogre? in debug mode? etc?
(L) [2006/05/12] [Shadow007] [Beginning of my work ...] Wayback!You're right, it's all Phantom's work. I admit I pillaged his code ...
I thought it was clear enough (given the previous discussion I had with him) that I would try and integrate his work within Ogre. On the Ogre forum, where I showed the same images, I creditted the Master for the raytracing part (which represents 99% of the code, the 1% beeing partly mine).
As for GPL compliant code release, unless if this image was considered derived work (and I don't see how it could), until I release a binary version, I don't see the need to do any. Once I'm advanced enough, I'll do it, but for now it's not ready for prime time.
Finally, should Phantom ask me to stop working with his source, I'll do it immedialtely.
As for the why's of ogre and RT, there are some posts there that should interest you : [LINK http://ompf.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=945#945]
(L) [2006/05/12] [Phantom] [Beginning of my work ...] Wayback! He has my explicit permission to work with my code. Besides, my code is not yet officially GPL'ed, there's no notice anywhere as of yet. Next release (with multithreading support) will have some kind of a notice, not sure if it will be GPL. It will probably be something like 'contact me if you use the code commercially'.

(L) [2006/05/12] [lycium] [Beginning of my work ...] Wayback!eep, missed that conversation; the thread's a bit over my head for now and i don't have the time to properly digest its contents until, hmm, wednesday. so apologies all round if i was overly suspicious of these curious coincidences i was seeing ;) and of course i don't "demand" any source releases either, was going on what jacco said about potential gpl'ing in another thread.
btw about that, in context with what jacco said: i panic too much about the "unknowable" already (in general, but eg someone might be using your code for commercial stuff in latvia yet you're a starving student in south africa) so generally i also release stuff as "rather pay me a little to do a proper job than rip this carp you silly".
