Sphere flake, the return of the vengeance part II back
(L) [2006/05/05] [tbp] [Sphere flake, the return of the vengeance part II] Wayback!I think i got, as usual, a bit carried away.
While fpsunflow's HDR were useful, i found i needed more varied depth... next thing i know i had a hacked ray - err sphere flake - tracer hooked up.
Hopefully with enough smoke & mirrors from post-processing nobody will notice how hackish it is  [SMILEY Embarassed]
...clicky...

5380840 spheres, 7.8s to generate/render with fsaa & 4 tap texture filtering.
No, i'm not going to move that onto the gpu [SMILEY Smile]

As it seems, a little postprocessing can do miracles.
I wonder how good would it look if AA was replaced with some filter on GPU.

(L) [2006/05/05] [Phantom] [Sphere flake, the return of the vengeance part II] Wayback!Very nice. [SMILEY Smile] How do you pass your shader a floating point buffer? Are you rendering directly to a floating point texture?

Whatever
(L) [2006/05/05] [tbp] [Sphere flake, the return of the vengeance part II] Wayback!Shiny it is [SMILEY Razz]
(L) [2006/05/05] [tbp] [Sphere flake, the return of the vengeance part II] Wayback!Shiny & fuzzy. Also, ugly.

EDIT for Ho Ho: Blurring makes the aliased parts look... blurred [SMILEY Smile] Bloom doesn't help there either. But you're right, it could help alleviate the problem a bit.

It's a bit large. You've been warned.
It's kinda neat that my card can still molest it at 30fps but what's less neat is at that res my monitor has long switched to an interlaced mode. On the other hand that gives the whole experience a nice nostalgic Amiga touch  [SMILEY Confused]
(L) [2006/05/12] [lycium] [Sphere flake, the return of the vengeance part II] Wayback!it is in fact really nice and shiny! that's what 32gb/s will do for you... of course hw fp computations help a little too ;)
btw congrats on the on-time, "brand new" (cf. born age > 0?) nephew!
