No, but your first two posts need to be acknowledged by a moderator, to prevent (severe) spam issues. It's anoying, but it greatly helps to reduce even worse anoyance. The board is spam-free lately.

In the past I had issues with fake users registering; once I deleted everyone with zero accepted posts which basically got rid of 80% of the 'users' (and their fake birthdays on the frontpage). To prevent future account deletetion, many 'lurkers' make a single post in this thread. You're safe now. [SMILEY :)]

Spamming has started again. Somehow people get through the defenses. Might have something to do with those 10+ mails I got from phpBB crew about updating. [SMILEY :)] I'll see what I can do, but once it gets fixed, I will delete users with zero accepted posts again, so if you want to keep lurking, make a random post to prevent this.

I deleted ~150 spam accounts (well, I hope they were all spam accounts). This week the forum software will be updated; once that is done I will probably delete some more accounts: spam rate per day is exceeding 20 atm, mostly from unique accounts. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Maintenance is not done yet. [SMILEY :)] I need to upgrade to the latest version to get rid of all the spammers, but a previous attempt failed horribly making the admin panel inaccessible. I need to do a manual backup of the database (without using the build-in backup function), then reinstall, then restore the backup. Getting access to phpmyadmin proved to be a major hurdle. I have that now, but there's a lot of work left. Maybe next week.
