(L) [2012/07/30] [tby bimpa_paul] [Research Associate in Real-time Ray Tracing] Wayback!Applications are invited for a Research Associate post to participate in a £4.5M EPSRC-funded project 'Biologically Inspired Massively Parallel Architectures' (BIMPA), in collaboration with the universities of Manchester, Cambridge and Southampton.
The research post covers the development of software for real-time ray tracing, exploiting the massive parallelism of the Spinnaker architecture developed at the University of Manchester. This two-year research project covers the development of fast parallel processing techniques using ray tracing methods for real-time rendering of complex scenes for applications in real-time computer graphics, including flight simulation.
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science or a related subject and ideally have experience in real-time computing, distributed systems or computer graphics.
Applicants interested in pursuing leading-edge software development in a vibrant university environment, are invited to contact Professor Dave Allerton on [LINK mailto:d.j.allerton@sheffield.ac.uk d.j.allerton@sheffield.ac.uk] to discuss research opportunities.
