Hello, and welcome to 'ompf.net'!

As you may have noticed, ompf.org has been down for about a week now. This domain is maintained by 'tbp', who is also the founder of the ompf forum. Sadly, tbp can't be reached at the moment. For this reason, we have setup a temporary forum. Everything is empty, under construction and so on, but hopefully things will improve over time.

More later.

- Jacco.

EDIT: I need to approve your first messages, as I have to do for all new users. Sorry about that; it's a necessary measure to keep spam away...

Thanks!

Tip: If you want to access to an old topic and know a key word, use google's cache [SMILEY 8-)]

Awesome that you are taking initiative to keep the forum going. If you need any help feel free to ping me. Have you made it possible to get RSS-feeds for active posts yet?

Thanks a lot for setting us up with a new forum! And yeah, just give a shout if you need assistance.

Double thumbs up! Both for taking the initiative and the RSS request  [SMILEY ;)]

Welcome to ompf2! Should we also register a dedicated domain for the forum? Or is this just a temporary solution with no plans for long-term support?
(L) [2011/11/29] [ost by admin] [Welcome!] Wayback!

To be honest, I expect this to be a long-term solution. If ompf goes back online within a week or two I think it's best if we all return to it though.
This server is currently setup to last, on decent hardware and with decent ICT support (backups and everything). I will ask our ICT guy to provide backups of the database, so that the community does not depend on me or our ICT department. To furether reduce dependency, I made Toxie admin as well, so he should be able to do things like adding fora and so on. If anyone else wants such a role, let me know.

p.s. sorry for switching between 'admin' and 'jbikker'; I don't want to use a super-account for everyday work, but I forget to switch back. [SMILEY :)]
p.p.s. I am not an ICT guy myself, so don't expect a forum as smooth as ompf.org... I'll see if I can get the rss to work, but frankly, forum maintenance is way out of my area of interest. [SMILEY ;)]
(L) [2011/11/29] [ost by admin] [Welcome!] Wayback!

As you can see, I'm trying to get RSS working. Please ignore the garbage at the top of the screen, it should be gone soon. [SMILEY :)]

For those interested / better informed than me, I sent the following to my ICT guy:
Code: [LINK # Select all][jacco@igad2 ompf2]$ php -v
PHP Warning:  PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/20060613/mcrypt.so' - /usr/lib/20060613/mcrypt.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
PHP Warning:  PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/20060613/simplexml.so' - /usr/lib/20060613/simplexml.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
The consequence of this is that the final step of the RSS mod install script won't run (gives the same errors when run from telnet). I tried installing mcrypt, like so:
rpm -qa | grep php-mcrypt
php-mcrypt-5.2.6-5
rpm -e php-mcrypt-5.2.6-5
yum install php-mcrypt
But yum wants root rights. I thus tried:
sudo yum install php-mcrypt
...and now I have been reported for attempting a root operation without sufficient rights. :) I am not even sure this will resolve the issue, any advice?
Actually I'm happy that the board itself is still working. [SMILEY ;)]

EDIT: I undid the changes, so that the forum at least works again. The partial RSS mod install made it impossible to approve posts, which is not acceptable at the moment. I will retry as soon as I got a reply from the ICT guy.

EDIT2: Second attempt failed... I officially suck at siteop work.

Turns out there is something called an ATOM feed integrated with phpBB. Is this useful / can it replace RSS? I'm a noob. [SMILEY ;)] I have enabled it now, let me know if this does the job for you.

Awesome! That's it, works like a charm. Thanks a bunch, now life is back to normal where I don't need to refresh the forum to check for new posts [SMILEY :D]
